Backed by over 800 enthusiastic supporters on Kickstarter,
The PETFusion 2.0 is a revolutionary all-in-one PET bottle recycling and filament manufacturing unit. This next-generation machine offers faster, more efficient, and user-friendly solutions to transform discarded PET bottles into high-quality 3D printing filament. It’s compact, cost-effective, and eco-friendly, bringing industrial-level recycling capabilities to your home or workspace.
PETFusion 2.0 comes with multiple cutting-edge features, including a separate motorized bottle cutter, dual hotends for simultaneous extrusion, a filament welder for creating seamless spools, and an improved ink-based filament colorizer. By using a single motor to power both the filament pulling and the filament cutter, PETFusion 2.0 achieves exceptional efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compactness, making it the ultimate PET bottle recycling solution.
How It Works
PETFusion 2.0 is designed as an all-in-one solution for transforming PET bottles into 3D printing filament. With its innovative design, powered by a single motor that pulls the filament through the process and directly winds it onto a removable spool, PETFusion 2.0 simplifies and accelerates the entire workflow.
- Prepare the Bottle
- Start by cleaning and drying your PET bottle thoroughly to remove any dirt, residue, or labels. A clean bottle ensures high-quality filament output.
- Cut the Bottle
- Use the separate motorized bottle cutter to slice the bottle into uniform strips. This standalone cutter operates independently, allowing you to prepare multiple bottles in advance, speeding up the process significantly.
- Feed the Strips
- Insert the PET strips into the dual hotend inputs. The strips are fed evenly and smoothly, preparing them for extrusion.
- Extrude the Filament
- The dual hotends shape the strips into precise 1.75mm filament. This simultaneous extrusion of two strips doubles the filament production rate compared to traditional setups.
- Colorize the Filament
- As the filament is formed, it passes through the improved ink-based colorizer, which infuses vibrant and consistent colors onto the filament.
- Pull and Wind onto Spool
- The single motor, connected to the removable spool, pulls the filament through the dual hotends and directly winds it onto the spool. This dual-purpose design reduces mechanical complexity, maintains optimal tension, and ensures the filament is wound smoothly and evenly.
- Filament Welding
- If shorter pieces of filament need to be joined, the built-in filament welder creates seamless connections. This ensures uninterrupted spools of filament for large 3D printing projects.
Key Features:
- Motorized Bottle Cutter: Effortlessly slices PET bottles into uniform strips, preparing them for extrusion.
- Dual Hotends: Processes two strips simultaneously, doubling the extrusion speed and enhancing productivity.
- Ink-Based Colorizer: Applies vibrant and consistent colors to the filament, allowing for customized 3D prints.
- Filament Welder: Seamlessly joins filament pieces, enabling the production of long, uninterrupted spools without weak points.
What’s Included in Package:
- STL Files: Comprehensive 3D printable files for PETFusion 2.0 components.
- Detailed List of Non-3D Printable Components: A thorough guide to sourcing all necessary electronic and mechanical parts.
- Video Tutorials: Step-by-step assembly and operation guides to assist in building and using the machine.
- One-on-One Email Support: Direct assistance for any questions or challenges encountered during assembly and operation.
- Commercial License (for those who selected the commercial license variant): Grants permission to produce and sell PETFusion 2.0-based products commercially anywhere in the world.
Estimated Cost of Non-3D Printable Components:
The total cost for the required non-3D printable components ranges between $95 and $140 USD, depending on suppliers and shipping considerations. This estimate includes all electronic parts, fasteners, and other essential items not produced through 3D printing.

Finding some of the components in Indonesia was a bit of a challenge, but the creator (I’d call him a lifesaver!) was super helpful. I reached out with my issue, and within a few hours, I had alternative parts with links to get them delivered to my doorstep. The level of support was amazing.

I honestly missed the Kickstarter because I was busy with other things, but as soon as I saw it was available, I bought it right away. It’s been awesome! I love how I can recycle PET bottles, which customers usually left in our cafe, and print cool stuff as complimentary things for our daily customers.

This is exactly what I was looking for! I had a bunch of PET bottles lying around with no idea what to do with them. Now, I can turn them into usable filament for my 3D printer. The whole process is smoother than I expected.

I’ll be honest—I almost asked for refund lol, because I couldn’t get the filament to extrude properly at first. It kept coming out uneven. But after reaching out for support, I got an instant response with step-by-step troubleshooting. Turns out, I was pultruding too fast then what RPM should be! Now it’s working like a charm. not a plug-and-play, but once you get the hang of it, it’s a great tool and now i can save money on filament by converting my waste PET bottle into Filament.
